The partridge surveys this year were all done on farms immediately around the Leadenham area. The farmland birds were all on point, Yellowhammer, Grey Partridge and a bumper count of Corn Buntings, with many birds showing extremely nicely. There was also a nice scattering of rarer species that I was not expecting; Short-eared Owl, Red Kite, Black Redstart and Ring Ouzel, the latter being the absolute standout of the April surveys.
In May, when I had time in the afternoons I took an afternoon and headed to RSPB Frampton Marsh about an hours drive away on the Lincolnshire wash coast. It was a fairly quiet day when I visited but there were still some nice waders and really chilled out birding. The best of the birds was a cracking Turtle Dove, one of two that I saw and three that I heard. Still a bird that I have only seen a handful of times, so awesome to get good views like this.
