scotland long weekend (monday)

the second day of the scotalnd weekend. we were supposed to go home today but first we went into dumfreis to the touristy information to see if there was anything to do on such a rainy day. as it turns out there was not but lets start at the beggining. when we arrivd the river was swollen massivly (indeed it was when we left). the wier was dotted with goosander trying to fish in the water. at one point one actually caught a fisha dn it was interesting to watch the others mob it persistantly until the fish had been swallowed. the surf was really violent below the weir where the goosanders were. never-the-less the goosander got pretty close and i really got to appreciate the coulors of the male bird. alsoon one of the islands there was a heron fishing too .he diddnt have any luck and when we returned he had given up to shelter on the island from the violent rain.

we gave up trying to do anything today and just went straight home.

we also saw mallards and black headed gulls on the river
