India Day 14 - Kosi River

Ramnagar - Kosi River

Today was our last day birding in the Himalayan foothills, although more like our last morning, our minibus was arriving at 13.00 to take us south to Delhi. I spent the morning birding down by the Kosi River. I and few others were down there from first light for a last gasp chance at tiger, but sadly it did not materialise. There were no new birds, but it was nice to be able to get a last look at many of the species we had grown used to seeing over the past few days. Our journey to Delhi during the afternoon was filled with traffic problems, we did not arrived until 21.00.

Highlights

Pallas’s Fish Eagle - We had seen this species every day from the hotel since we came to Camp Big Cat, of all different ages. However, because we were down at the river from so early we got an individual fly right over our heads, giving fantastic views in the early morning gloom
