Uganda Day 1 - Arrival & travel to Kibale NP

Although it is not a good time to be doing a birding trip, things transpired such that it was possible. As such we took necessary precautions and decided to spend a few weeks in Uganda looking for a number of forest and savanna species in the national parks there.
We arrived in Entebbe Airport not long after sunrise and quicky organized ourselves and were on the move. Most of the day was spent driving to Kibale Forest National Park which was a good seven hours away. We were blessed that the road conditions were good and as such we made it there as anticipated in the early evening. There were a few bits that we saw on the way but most were common species which we encountered more often during our trip. Highlights included our first Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill and Mantled Guereza monekys, both of which we found in the Matiri Central Forest Reserve about two thirds of the way along the drive.
Once we arrived in Kibale in the late afternoon we settled ourselves in and began planning for the following days birding. The lodge was very nice, with our rooms actually being well outfitted tents that were very comfortable for the two nights we were staying here. Before turning in for the night we tried a few owls and got lucky with Brown Wood Owl responding and showing very well in the trees about our room. They continued calling all night, serenading us to sleep.
