Spurn Day 38

It sadly rained substantially today, so most of the day was spent in the warren not doing much. I went for a walk to canal scrape but it was usually quiet and the only thing I really picked up was a Sedge Warbler at the bottom of Canalside.

In the evening though it picked up substantially, and we enjoyed a nice evenings seawatch. It started off a little slow, but we soon had good numbers of Common Tern passing through, along with a few other bits and pieces.

There were a few Swifts moving tonight too, a total of 40 birds moving over, including one flock of 26, which were high up but flew right over our heads. I also got a spurn tick in the form of Shag, and the evening was topped off with a lovely Black Tern moving through in the later hours. We counted 5050 Common Tern in total, which is an impressive count, the second highest I have seen in my time here.
